CHICAGO, IL - As Chicago evaluates case counts of COVID-19 in surrounding states, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Chicago’s travel order will now include Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Illinois.

“We here in Chicago are taking the rise in cases around Illinois very seriously, and want to do everything we can to protect our residents,” said Mayor Lightfoot. She continued, “That is why every Chicagoan who sets foot in Illinois for more than 24 hours, will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days upon their return.”

However, this decision has caused a severe rift between Lightfoot’s administration, and Governor Pritzker’s. “This is preposterous, I don’t know what she’s thinking. Has Mayor Lightfoot forgotten that Chicago itself falls within Illinois’ boundaries?” Pritzker asked rhetorically in his afternoon press conference.

Lightfoot confirmed that once Illinois gets its outbreak under control, residents will once again be able to travel in and out of Chicago as they please.
